Compare Keurig Models: The COMPLETE list of current, K, B, and Vue models

There’s no doubt that Keurig coffee makers are some of the most convenient coffee makers around. There’s also a TON of different Keurig models around, so in this post, let’s compare Keurig models so you can make sense of them all.

Keurigs are great for homes and offices, especially in today’s high-speed world. They have a huge ecosystem of pods so you always have a very wide variety of coffees to choose from.

A lot of Keurig models are out there in the market, and the best for you is the one which fulfills all your requirements. For your convenience I have listed and reviewed (almost) all the available Keurig’s models in this post as a result of thorough research.

Before you start exploring the wide Keurig range, take out a few minutes to learn some basics about (Keurigs) coffee makers especially pod based ones. You’ll get to know if it’s worth it or not.

Essentially, Keurigs now boil down to 5 basic models which you can find in the table below. Keurig no longer makes numbered models, but we’ve listed them later in this post. Some of them are still available to purchase on Amazon.

How to compare Keurig models in a nutshell

The main differences from model to model are the size, the water reservoir’s capacity, and the different size cups that it can brew. With these three things it mind, it will be easy for you to compare Keurig models.

To make things easier for you, we’ve already tested and compared the best products available to narrow the field down to these top choices.

The K-Select is a replacement model for the K-55.

The Keurig K-Select is Keurig’s mid-range offering. It’s got a balance of features you’d expect from a Keurig machine, and the price also falls into a sweet spot. It’s not the cheapest, but it’s a great pick for homes.

Sporting a generous 52 ounce reservoir, it’s great for brewing lots of cups in one go without having to refill. This is what you’d expect in a family home where 4-5 people will make coffee in the morning. If everyone made a 10 ounce cup, you’d get 5 cups before having to refill.

You can brew 4 sizes of coffee: 6, 8, 10, or 12 ounces.

You also get a water filter so your coffee tastes better overall.

Controlling this system is fairly simple – you just push the button and it brews. You also have the option for a strong brew.

This machine is compatible with all universal K-cups.

Keurig K-Elite

The K-Elite is a new model.

The K-Elite is a new concept from Keurig that can brew both hot and iced coffee. To brew iced coffee, simply fill up your glass with ice all the way to the top, and press the Iced Coffee button.

Aside from that, the K-Elite is compatible with all universal K-Cups including refillable ones. It also includes a filter for purifying water to brew better coffee.

Like the K-Select, it has an option for a strong brew. The K-Elite differs from the K-Select in three main ways:

  • The K-Elite has a larger 75 ounces water reservoir(which is why the machine is bigger, too)
  • The K-Elite can brew 5 sizes: 4, 6, 8, 10, and 12 ounces(4 ounces is good for a really concentrated cup)
  • The K-Elite has temperature control to fine-tune your brew

Keurig K-Duo

The K-Duo is a replacement for the K575

The K-Duo by Keurig is a really functional coffee brewer where you have the option to switch between single serve pods and ground drip coffee.

It’s essentially a 2 way coffee maker, but by Keurig.

You get a 12 cup glass carafe along with the brewer. The carafe sits on a warming plate. I am not a big fan of warming plates as it can spoil your coffee if you let it sit for too long, but for keeping coffee warm for a couple of minutes, it’s pretty functional.

The drip brewer is compatible with both paper filters and reusable filters. It can be programmed to brew at a specific time, and if you’re brewing multiple cups, you can pause the brew to pour out a cup before continuing the brew.

The machine sports a 60 ounce water reservoir that is shared by the drip and single serve sides.

On the single serve side, you can brew 6, 8, 10, or 12 ounce cups. You can also select the strong brew option for a more intense cup.

Measurements: 12.92H x 10.94W x 12.76D inches

  • Multiple brew sizes: Brew a 6, 8, 10, or 12-cup carafe and a 6, 8, 10, or 12 ounce cup.
  • Compatible with keurig gold tone mesh filter accessory: A reusable coffee filter you can use to brew your perfect carafe (sold separately).
  • Large 60 ounce water reservoir: The 60 ounce water reservoir is shared between the single serve and carafe brewing, saving you time and simplifying your morning routine. Removable reservoir makes refilling easy.

Keurig K-Cafe

The K-Cafe is a new release

If you love your Keurig and the convenience of Keurig pods, but also want to enjoy cappuccinos and lattes, then Keurig has answered your prayers with the K-Cafe.

The K-Cafe combines Keurig’s K-Cups with a milk frother to make milky specialty coffees like cappuccinos and lattes.

Granted, cappuccinos and lattes are actually made with espresso shots, so the coffee won’t be completely authentic. Even then, once you add the milk, you really can’t tell the difference unless you’re super discerning.

For best results, choose a strong K-cup that will mimic the intensity of an espresso shot. When you choose a cappuccino or latte, the machine will indeed brew a 2 ounce shot, but the brewing process is not exactly like an espresso.

Like always, the machine is controlled by the push of a single button for the beverage you want.

It has a large 60 ounce reservoir so you can brew quite a few cups in one go. Bear in mind that the same water will be used for steaming milk.

Milk is steamed in the milk frother, which you can then pour into your coffee. The right way to combine steamed milk and coffee is to pour milk into the coffee.

If you don’t want a cappuccino or latte, you can make 6, 8, 10, or 12 ounce servings.

Measurements: 12.5 H X 15.3 W X 11.7 D inches

Keurig K-Classic

The K-Classic replaces the K-55

The K-Classic is an entry-level Keurig machine that forgoes some extra features. It still uses Keurig’s universal K-Cups, but a few added features were left out to make the machine more affordable.

The reservoir is smaller at 48 ounces, and it can only brew 6, 8, and 10 ounce sizes.

LED lights on the top of the machine will indicate the status, whether you need to add water, clean or descale, or if it is in the process of brewing.

There’s no option for a strong brew or to dispense hot water for oatmeal or soup.

You can still use any K-Cup, so it will make hot chocolate, tea, and any other kind of K-Cup you can get your hands on.

Measurements: 13.0 H x 9.8 W x 13.3 D inches

  • Large 48 ounce water reservoir: Allows you to brew 6+ cups before having to refill, saving you time and simplifying your morning routine. The water reservoir is removable, making it easy to refill whenever you need to.
  • Descaling: An important part of cleaning your keurig brewer. This process helps to remove calcium deposits, or scale, that can build up inside a coffee maker over time.
  • Auto-off: An auto-off feature is easily programmed to turn off your coffee maker after it has been idle for two hours, helping to save energy.
  • Simple button controls: Just insert a pod, select your desired cup brew size, and brew a great-tasting cup in under a minute.

Keurig K Series

Recent models of Keurig are equipped with latest technologies and comfort features preferred by consumers. Recently Keurig unveiled two of its best models – The Keurig K-Select and The Keurig K-Elite. The incident which led to their release is interesting.

With Keurig 1.0 technology the consumers are free to choose their pods like in K15 and K50, but coffee makers having Keurig 2.0 technology version (for example K250), makes it mandatory for the users to purchase only Keurig-licensed pods.

Note – Keurig 2.0 has a scanning technology which prevents the use of other coffee capsules (pods), and hence limits the consumers’ freedom(This is quite similar to what Nespresso did with VertuoLine).

This led to a decline in Keurig’s coffee makers sales and as a rectifying method Keurig discontinued all 2.0 brewers except Keurig K250 and released their two top notch models – Keurig K-Select and Keurig K-Elite, which you saw above.

Keurig K15

Keurig K15 Coffee Maker, Single Serve K-Cup Pod Coffee Brewer, 6 to 10 oz. Brew Sizes, True Blue

Popularly known as The Keurig Mini, K15 is a compact coffee maker, which can easily fit into smaller spaces. K15 is a replacement model for K10, which was discontinued because of some faults.

Below are some of K15’s general specifications and key features.

Drip Tray: Removable drip tray accommodates travel mugs up to 5.2” tall, and holds a full accidental brew for easy clean-up.

Energy Efficient: Added automatic controls like automatic shut off after each brew, saves the overall energy consumption units.

Display: Has a concise but useful display having buttons for Brew and Power, and a LED indicator for Add Water and Lift Handle.

Colors – The machine is available in excellent colors, especially its Jade color is perfect if you prefer a modern setup.

K15 has another distinct model the K15 Mini Plus Brewing System, Oasis Exclusive Color. This color gives you a whole new look for your kitchen.

Pros and Cons – K15 comes with 1.0 version of brewing technology. Other Keurig models have more advanced Keurig 2.0 brewing technology.

Older 1.0 system’s biggest advantage is its ability to brew any kind of K-Cup. The Keurig K15 Coffee Maker brews all K-Cup pods.

But one major concern is the strength of your coffee. More coffee means weaker coffee, so if you fill your coffee cup to its brink, you will not have a stronger coffee. This is unlikely to happen if you have the advanced version.

Is K15 the best fit for you? – This coffee maker has good customer reviews and no servicing issues, which makes it a popular choice for offices and small families, especially youngsters and college goers.

If you want a coffee maker for your cubicle or work space or if you have a smaller kitchen, or a smaller family, and you are looking for a compact machine, go for K15.

Drip Tray: Removable drip tray accommodates travel mugs which makes it easy to use and somewhat portable.

Energy Efficient: Like K15, K50 has added automatic controls like automatic shut off after each brew, which saves the overall energy consumption units. The machine has an Auto On feature too.

Display: The machine has controls for Brew Size and Power on off, and has LED indicators for Add Water, Heating, and for other useful indications.

Pros and Cons – The biggest advantage to this machine is that it brews your coffee in under a minute, and offers you a lot of varieties. But the machine is very bulky, which makes it less portable.

Secondly this machine also comes with Keurig 1.0 technology, like K15 which means K50 brews all K-Cup pods.

But one major concern is the strength of your coffee.

Is K50 the best fit for you? The machine has a 48 oz water reservoir which means it can brew a lot of coffee. If you want a machine to be kept as a central coffee maker in your office, or you want a coffee maker for your family then go for this machine.

Keurig K50 The All Purposed Coffee Maker, Black

Strength control: This is the feature available with Keurig 2.0 technology. Strength control setting allows you to brew a bolder cup using any K-Cup pod brew size, which is unlikely in the 1.0 version. This feature is what gives an edge over K15 and K50.

Drip Tray – A removable drip tray at the base of the brewer catches drips and makes for easy clean-up.

High Altitude Setting: A very useful feature in this machine is its high altitude setting which makes brewing coffee easy in low temperatures and saves a lot of electrical units.

Colors – Keurig has made this model available in a variety of colors, the best being Peacock Blue and Sandy Pearl.

Pros and Cons – K200 and K250 are different model numbers but the machines are identical. The only difference is that the K250 comes with some extra accessories namely:

An extra charcoal filter and a bottle of de-scaling solution which helps extend the life of your brewer.

Another advantage with this machine is its larger reservoir and strength control which saves you time and simplifies your morning routine providing you with strong full cups.

Although the machine lacks carafe, which is a must and sadly you have to get that separately.

Is K250 the best fit for you? The machine is very good having excellent customer responses. And with added controls it gives you better control and preferred taste. If you want good coffee fast then this is the machine for you.

However if you are looking to buy this machine, go for K250 Plus model, which is the advanced version of K250. K250 Plus is larger than K250 and offers other added benefits.

Pros and Cons – According to the customer reviews there are mostly pros about this machine. It has come as a boon after the 1.0 and 2.0 technologies. Even the price is fair and it comes with a bonus 6-count K-Cup pod variety pack, one water filter handle, and one filter.

Is K-Select the best fit for you? – I strongly recommend you to buy this coffee maker. It is an all in one pack having all the latest technological features, allowing you better controls and tastier brews. K-Elite

Keurig K-Select Coffee Maker, Single Serve K-Cup Pod Coffee Brewer, With Strength Control and Hot Water On Demand, Matte Black

The only function which lacked in Keurigs was the iced coffee system. Ninja Coffee Bar offers this function and was their leading advertisement agenda. K-Elite which is Keurig’s one of the latest models unveiled this feature too – it is an iced coffee system! K-Elite delivers both modern design and ultimate beverage customization.

With the Keurig K-Elite you can brew a stronger coffee that can then be iced to the appropriate concentration.

Aside from the iced brew functionality, the Keurig K-Elite is pretty similar to the K-Select, with the following differences. K-Elite:

  • Has a larger 75 oz water reservoir whereas K-Select has a 52 oz reservoir
  • Brews 4 oz coffee, the smallest in Keurigs.
  • Has an additional Temperature Control functionality
  • And has a LCD clock display

General Specifications

Dimensions: 9.9″W x 12.7″D x 13.1″H

Key Features

Large Reservoir – K-Elite’s reservoir is huge. It allows you to brew 8 cups before a refill and to your convenience it is removable.

Brews Multiple Cup Sizes – With this machine you can brew the smallest cup size that is 4oz and the largest which is 12 oz. So enjoy the coffee as per your appetite and mood.

Strong Brew – This feature is same as in K-Select. It increases the strength of your coffee’s taste, producing a bolder flavor, so you can enjoy a bolder brew.

Quiet Brew – The machine has the latest quiet brew technology, minimizing noise during use.

High Altitude Setting – Like K250 and K-Select this machine also features high altitude setting which makes brewing coffee easy in low temperatures and saves a lot of electrical units.

Iced Brew – Brews full-flavored, delicious iced coffee at the touch of a button.

Hot Water – The machine comes with another interesting feature that is “Hot Water on Demand Button”. With the touch of a button you can have water flowing in your cup which is perfect if you want to make instant soups or oatmeal.

Display – K-Elite offers a lot of simple button controls enabling you to select your desired cup size. In addition to its display it has a LCD clock.

Colors – Keurig has designed this model in two colors, brushed slate and brushed silver. My favourite is brushed slate, as it looks very formal.

Pros and Cons – This machine has an edge over K-Select. You can enjoy cold coffee with this product and as well have access to instant hot water. However, cold brew takes almost a full day to brew and that is a lot of time. Secondly you have to pay a lot for this feature.

One important positive point for this machine is its large reservoir, which gives you the facility to make a lot of coffee instantly. Secondly, its removable drip tray accommodates travel mugs up to 7.2” tall and holds a full accidental brew for easy cleanup, and the machines comes with a bonus 6-count K-Cup pod variety pack, one water filter handle, and one filter (same as in K-Select).

Is K-Elite the best fit for you? – I will only suggest this machine if you

  • want concentrated coffee setting intended for iced coffees,
  • have a large family who are all coffee lovers.
  • are intending to buy this machine for your large office.

If not, than K-Select offers everything and is better designed than K-Elite. And if you are intended to buy this machine go for this models latest version the K-Elite C. Because cost wise both the machines does not have much difference.

The 500 range of K-Series includes the above mentioned four models. The reservoir and the color touch display gets larger in the 500 range as compared to the 400 range. One advantage of 400 series models – is that they come with a carafe, whereas the 500 series do not include one.

Overall the K500 range is great for its premium features, most notably the massive 80 oz water reservoir a 2.8″ XL screen, a customizable clock, favorites settings, customizable wall paper, hot water on demand and nightlight setthings.

K525 stands out from the rest of the models of this series, as it comes with a reusable My K-Cup pod. The K525 is quite similar to the K425 with a few key differences.

K550 includes a water filter, a Keurig carafe and a sample pack of K-Cup and K-Carafe pods.

K575 doesn’t include the Keurig carafe or My K-Cup reusable pod.

The Keurig VUE Series

The VUE Series was some of the most premium coffee makers by Keurig. Their design speaks about their richness, as you will find VUE models’ appearance altogether different from the K-Series and the B-Series.

One most important function that VUE Series allows you is that you can have a frothed coffee. For some consumers this is a very important factor.

Although VUE Series is discontinued by Keurig which means it will be difficult to find VUE Pods, I will still advise to go for the models as you can use all the K-Cup Pods in these machines if you have an adaptor.

The following are the available brew sizes by pod type for the Vue series:

Coffee pods: 4-16 oz

Tea/Other pods: 6-12 oz

Hot Cocoa: 6-10 oz

Keurig V500

Keurig RIVO Espresso Machine

Keurig RIVO R500

Keurig K-Cafe Coffee Maker, Single Serve K-Cup Pod Coffee, Latte and Cappuccino Maker, Comes with Dishwasher Safe Milk Frother, Coffee Shot Capability, Compatible With all K-Cup Pods, Charcoal

Rivo Espresso Machine is the only espresso coffee maker by Keurig. Although Keurig has discontinued making Espresso Machines, it launched R500, as the only model in this series.

Keurig RIVO R500

Machine brews espresso coffee using Rivo-Pods. It’s a simple machine but does brew a pretty good espresso. The machine has a convenient built-in frother for cappuccino and latte beverages.

Note – Although it is a very good machine, I will take a step back from buying this product for two reasons.

  • Keurig does not specialize in espresso machines.
  • RIVO R500 uses only R-Pods, and as Keurig has discontinued manufacturing this product, you will get third party manufactured R-Pods.

Know your Keurig Better

Any coffee maker is mostly divided into three parts. The upper chamber is where you have a water reservoir and a shower head. Water gets stored in the reservoir. From here it gets transported to the lower chamber, where it gets heated.

The lower chamber is where all the heating devices are installed. So basically your coffee maker’s power switch turns power to the heating element on and off.

Once the water gets heated, it again travels back upwards, but now to the shower head. Shower head forcefully jettisons hot water into the middle chamber.

This is where your ground coffee is placed (sometimes in an enclosed pod – more on this shortly). Hot water mixes with ground coffee, takes its flavor, oil and essence, and then comes out from a nozzle where your cup is placed.

Isn’t it simple?

What are pods?

Keurigs’ coffee makers are installed with different advanced features that give you more control over your coffee. One of them is pod or its very popular K-Cups.

Most of the Keurig’s models are pod based or single serve coffee makers, which means you don’t need to ground your coffee and place it into its chamber. You just have to install a pod, simply the way you insert a disk in your pc. A pod contains ground coffee, sealed by a paper filter.

Keurigs’ coffee makers have their own pods known as K-Cups, which contain ground coffee of several brands and flavors. Boiling jettisoned water breaks the seal of these cups, mixes with your preferred coffee and flows down into your cup.

Keurigs’ coffee makers generally have – a large reservoir, which means more storage of water and – a Pod system which means you can very (very) easily operate the machine. In Keurigs models the only work that you have to do is simply switch on the machine, collect your prepared coffee and enjoy.

Conclusion

Phew, if you made it this far, then congratulations. You are now a Keurig expert and you know everything there is to know about Keurig machines.
