What are the main features?
Here’s a quick summary of the main features of the Bonavita BV1900TS:
- The hot water comes into contact with the coffee grounds very evenly, resulting in consistent extraction and good tasting coffee
- It is equipped with a 1400 watt heater that can maintain a steady temperature of between 195 to 205 degrees Fahrenheit
- You can brew up to 8 cups of coffee within minutes
- A 55-watt warming plate will keep your coffee hot until you drink it

This great Bonavita brewer is a German-engineered machine. It comes with a glass carafe and can brew up to 8 cups of ideal coffee with perfect water temperature, exact contact time, and proper coffee grounds saturation in just 5 to 6 minutes.
There’s a special pre-infusion feature which lets you bloom the coffee before brewing. If you hold down the brew button for 5 seconds, the machine will only release enough water to evenly wet the grounds. This starts the blooming process, after which the water will shower as it would and brew the coffee.
In addition, the 1400W thermal block heater allows the machine to reach appropriate water temperature quickly. ِA separate 55-watt warming plate makes sure that your brewed coffee will be warm enough for you to enjoy.
I’m not a huge fan of using warming plates for extended periods of time as it can burn the coffee, but it’s great for keeping coffee warm enough to enjoy for 10-15 minutes.
A 2-hour shut off for the warming plate ensures safety when using the warming plate. After all, what you will get is a great cup of coffee whenever you want.
There are a few catches, though. There is no way to pause the brew in between so you can pour out one cup. You have to wait for all the coffee to finish brewing before you can pick up the carafe.
Additionally, there is no auto-start or programmability, so you can’t wake up to a cup of steaming coffee ready for you.
This great Bonavita BV1900 8-Cup is one of a few brewers which have been recognized for great quality and smooth performance by SCAA – the Specialty Coffee Association of America. This means that this exceptional machine has met standards determined by the SCAA.
Design and quality
As mentioned earlier, the exceptional Bonavita BV1900TS 8-Cup shares many common features with the Technivorm Moccamaster, which is considered to be the pinnacle of drip brewers.
One of them is the attractive sleek minimalism. Furthermore, the whole machine is covered with a good-looking short stainless steel column which also functions as a platform for the water reservoir built in. The water reservoir lid includes the showerhead, which is fixed in a position over a separated tube.
The filter basket is similar to the traditional pour-over brewer and directly goes with the carafe, instead of being slotted into the unit as usual. All of these parts work together to build a simple and attractive coffee maker.
This Bonavita BV1900 is small and light in comparison with Technivorm. For instance, the water reservoir lid has hinges which can dislocate with slight pressure.
More than that, the Bonavita is skillfully engineered, and the brushed stainless steel attachment helps to protect the important parts from wear and tear.
The built-in water reservoir is easy to fill in water with wide opening for you to pour water and clear markings for you to know the maximum water level.
To get going, just fill the filter basket with coffee grounds, pour water in the reservoir, push the button, and wait for delicious coffee to start dripping into the carafe below.
The Bonavita BV1900TS 8-Cup Coffee Maker comes with a warranty of 2 years. Within this period of time, you can ask for free repairs or even exchange a new one if you find any defects that are due to manufacturing
- Most inexpensive SCAA certified machine you can find

- Pre-saturation is great for blooming and extracting maximum flavor
- Removable parts are dishwasher safe
- Can’t be programmed
- Expensive compared to other drip coffee makers
The Bonavita BV1900TS is far from perfect, but it is definitely the most inexpensive SCAA certified brewer out there. SCAA certification is quite strict so you can expect good quality coffee from this machine. Brewing is super easy as it’s literally just the push of a button.
The lack of programmability is also something it misses out on, but if you grind fresh coffee before brewing anyway, that won’t be an issue.
Speaking of which, to get the most out of this machine, you’ll need to have a separate grinder. Chances are you already have a grinder, but if you don’t and would like to enjoy freshly ground coffee first thing in the morning, check out our picks for coffee makers with grinders.
